ABSTRACT 877 | POSTER W-059

RADIOMETRIC CALIBRATION OF THE MARINE OPTICAL NETWORK (MARONET)

The Marine Optical Network (MarONet) is deployed in the Indian Ocean off Western Australia for Ocean-Color System Vicarious Calibration (OC-SVC) of the Plankton, Aerosol, Cloud, ocean Ecosystem (PACE) mission. The system, consisting of a mooring buoy and an optical buoy equipped with three fixed-depth in water Ed/Lu collectors and one in air Es collector, is nearly identical to the new MOBY Refresh system designed and built by the Marine Optical Buoy (MOBY) team to replace the Hawaii-located heritage MOBY instrumentation. This poster describes the spectral irradiance and radiance calibration apparatus for MarONet, which is carried out pre and post deployment at the Perth support facility. Uncertainty budgets are presented as well as the methodologies for maintaining the radiometric scales.
