ABSTRACT 1383 | POSTER 34

FROM DATA ACCESS TO APPLICATIONS: EUMETSAT TRAINING RESOURCES FOR SENTINEL-3 OLCI

To support ongoing work and skills development in the marine remote sensing community, EUMETSAT continues to develop training materials and practical tools focused on satellite ocean colour data. These resources are intended to help users work more effectively with data, from access and processing through to validation. The current material covers the full suite of Sentinel-3 OLCI ocean colour products, with examples and workflows reflecting typical use cases. Recent additions also include new material supporting multi-sensor workflows, enabling users to combine data from different satellite missions. Development is carried out in conjunction with ongoing scientific studies, community projects, and feedback gathered through EUMETSAT marine training courses.

This poster presents a selection of available resources, including:

  • Python-based tools and APIs for accessing and working with OLCI data collections
  • Use of the ThoMaS (Tool to generate Matchups of Ocean Colour products with Sentinel-3/OLCI) toolkit for matchup and validation activities
  • Demonstration models for ocean colour inversion and algorithm development
  • Examples illustrating the use of recent updates to OLCI operational products
  • Workflows supporting the integration of multi-sensor datasets
  • The materials are provided as Python-based Jupyter notebooks, with accompanying guidance for training and self-study.

All resources are available via the EUMETSAT GitLab under open-source licences. Feedback on the materials and suggestions for further development are welcome, and contributions from the community are encouraged.
