TRAVEL
Las Palmas is the most cosmopolitan city in the Canary Islands. The International Airport of Gran Canaria, 20 km from the city, has connections to major cities in Europe.
VISA REQUIREMENTS. A valid visa is required for certain nationalities. A visa is not necessary if the interested party has a valid residence permit or a valid long-term visa issued by a Schengen State. The nationalities requiring a visa are listed in Annex I of Regulation (EU) 2018/1806.
TRAVEL SUPPORT
Three opportunities for travel support are listed below. Requests for travel support may be made during registration by selecting “yes” in the applicable field. Applicants will be notified of decisions in summer 2024.
EUROPEAN PARTICIPANT TRAVEL SUPPORT. EUMETSAT has limited travel support available for participants from the European Union, Iceland, Norway, or Switzerland presenting work using data from the Copernicus Sentinel-3 satellites. Researchers working in these countries are eligible to apply, with priority given to students and early career researchers.
STUDENT TRAVEL SUPPORT. Limited travel support may be available for graduate students.
EARLY CAREER TRAVEL SUPPORT. Limited travel support may be available for participants who have earned their terminal degree within the past ten years.
